Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage mechanisms KeenSafe uses on its public website (keensafe.com) and customer-facing surfaces, and how visitors can control them.

Effective 2025-01-15·Version 1.4·[email protected]
01

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on a device when a website is visited. They allow the site to remember information across pages and sessions. This policy uses "cookie" to also cover similar technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels and SDK tokens — when used in equivalent ways.

KeenSafe uses cookies sparingly and avoids unnecessary third-party tracking. Where possible, functional behaviour is implemented without cookies at all.

02

Cookie categories used

Cookies on KeenSafe surfaces fall into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to operate (session management, security, load balancing). Cannot be disabled without breaking the service.
  • Functional — remember preferences such as language, theme, dismissed banners. Improve experience but the site works without them.
  • Analytics — aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics that measure how visitors use the site, with IP truncation and short retention. No cross-site tracking.
  • Marketing — used only on the public marketing site, only with explicit consent, and only for measuring our own campaign performance. Disabled by default in privacy-strict regions.
03

Specific cookies set by KeenSafe

  • ks_session — strictly necessary; secure, HttpOnly session token; expires on logout or 24h.
  • ks_csrf — strictly necessary; cross-site-request-forgery token; per-session.
  • ks_top_bar_dismissed_v1 — functional; remembers if a visitor has dismissed the announcement bar; local storage; persistent until cleared by the visitor.
  • ks_theme — functional; theme preference (system / light / dark); local storage; persistent.
  • ks_consent — strictly necessary; remembers cookie-consent choice; expires after 12 months or on revocation.
04

Third-party cookies

Third-party cookies on the public marketing site are limited to the following, all of which are loaded only with explicit consent in regions where consent is required:

  • Privacy-respecting analytics (e.g. Plausible / Fathom-style) — anonymous, no personal identifiers, IP truncation enabled.
  • Demo-request form anti-bot mechanism (hCaptcha) — strictly necessary when the form is rendered.
  • Embedded video player (where used) — loaded only when the visitor plays the video.
06

How to control cookies

  • Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer to change consent for non-essential categories at any time.
  • Browsers allow visitors to block or delete cookies via settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will impact the operation of authenticated areas.
  • Some platforms offer a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal. KeenSafe respects GPC where supported and treats it as a signal to disable non-essential categories.
07

Changes to this policy

KeenSafe reviews this policy at least annually and republishes when material changes occur. The effective date and version above reflect the current revision. Substantive changes are surfaced via the cookie banner so consent can be re-confirmed.
